- conventions of form: how constraints may work in your favor
- similes, metaphors, figures of speech and style
- intensifying the impact: the spoken word – rhyme, rhythm, prosody, melody
- avoiding cliche and other tips & tricks for editing your work
We’ll read from accomplished poets and analyze their craft.

Storytelling
Tell awesome stories! Join me on a thrilling quest for your first (published) piece. Flash fiction, short stories, novels: how do they work and what can you improve?
We’ll discuss:
- jumpstarting your creativity and writing what you know
- what makes a good story?
- voice, POV, setting, characters, themes
- structure: opening scenes, turning points, endings
- characters and dialogue
- complications, plot twists and suspense, climax and denouement
